On the Beat ("On the Beat," "we," "us") is operated by Instruct LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the On the Beat app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and the name you provide. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form; we do not have access to your plaintext password.
Content you create. We store the classes, playlists, preferences, and personalization choices you create so we can save your work and provide the service.
Music service connection. When you connect a music service such as Apple Music, you authorize that connection through the provider (for Apple Music, through Apple's MusicKit). We receive a token that lets the app play music on your behalf and we may store which provider you chose. We do not receive or store your music service password.
Diagnostics and usage data. We use an error-monitoring service to collect crash reports, performance data, and limited session information so we can find and fix problems.
Technical information. Like most apps, we may collect technical data such as IP address, device type, and app version for security and reliability.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the app, including saving and syncing your classes.
- To generate class and playlist suggestions from the inputs you provide.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability and quality.
- To communicate with you about your account or the service.
AI-generated content
On the Beat uses third-party AI providers to generate class and playlist suggestions. When you request a generation, the inputs you provide (such as class settings and prompts) are sent to that provider through our backend to produce a result. We do not send your password or payment information for this purpose.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app, and only as needed to provide the service: hosting, database, and authentication; application hosting and content delivery; error monitoring and diagnostics; AI generation providers; and Apple, when you connect and use Apple Music.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app under Account, then Delete account, which removes your account and associated content. Some limited records (for example, backups or security logs) may persist for a short period before being overwritten.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
We operate from the United States, and your information may be processed there. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Children
On the Beat is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by your local law. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly through in-app account deletion, or by contacting us at the address below. We do not sell personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
